2018-06-23 · HCI Human Computer Interaction is the study into the design use of computer technology, the study focuses more on interfaces between users and computers. Interfaces is a mutual barrier which two or more separate segments of a computer system swap information. Embodied Interaction comes from the words embodiment and interact, which is an action. This workshop aims to explore how interactive systems can enhance sports experiences beyond performance – highlighting an Embodied Interaction perspective.

Recently, such a perspective has been used to discuss human actions and interactions with a range of computational human computer interaction (HCI) point of view, is regarded as a means of embodied interactions (Dourish, 2004; Tan & Chow, 2018). In the context of learning and instruction, this implies that learners may interact with computer-mediated learning materials via body movements. Such a learning experience, in this study, Dorothé has been a Research Fellow at the Center for Human-Computer Interaction since May 2016. She graduated from Eindhoven University of Technology with a Master’s degree in Industrial Design. At the Center, she works as a design researcher on the project FEM*mad, which aims to remove barriers that girls* and women* experience in their access to 2012-04-04 Many of the general ideas in embodied cognition have entered third-wave HCI (cf. This paper presents parts of a design framework for collaboratively used tangible interaction systems, focusing on the theme of Embodied Facilitation. Systems human computer interaction (HCI) point of view, is regarded as a means of embodied interactions (Dourish, 2004; Tan & Chow, 2018).

Everyday human interaction is embodied in that it is non-rationalising, intersubjective and bodily activity. Philosophers, sociologists and other writers have long discussed the way that much of our activity has these characteristics, but Dourish's point is that traditional approaches to HCI design do not take full account of embodiment, i.e. they are not in accord with the activity they aim to support. This paradigm finds applications in various research projects notably robotics, autonomous agents, and interactive interfaces.

Activities include hands-on discussion on state-of-the-art research on embodied interaction and sports in HCI, and developing tangible concepts that enhance sports experiences. 2012-10-06 However, many questions remain as to exactly what embodied interaction means and whether it can be considered a coherent program of research. The aim of this special issue is to critically explore different perspectives on embodied interaction in HCI and interaction design research and practice and to focus on what theoretical traction they can provide.
